What is Neurofeedback?

Neuro-feedback, also known as EEG ( electroencephalogram ) biofeedback is a ground breaking, clinically intervention for a wide range of unwanted conditions. It provides immediate: visual, auditory and tactile feedback to a client through neurofeedback amplification and specialist computer graphics software.

Neurofeedback trains the brain to work in a healthier, functioning pattern. Once the brain is more regulated, this can reduce unwanted symptoms. If we give the brain more information about the best way to function – it will correct itself to follow this new pattern.

What might a session look like?

As a Psychologist, Coach and Therapist I combine Neurofeedback with Goal orientated support sessions.

Firstly I discuss and establish Goals that the client wishes to achieve.

Interventions are then chosen by using scientifically proven neurofeedback protocols, timing and frequency range. These are then confirmed these using Kinesiology techniques.

Then it's time to experience Neurofeedback!

The client will be seated comfortably whilst I attach electrodes to their scalp. When connected these will transmit the brain activity through the computer software program using visual, auditory and tactile cues. As this happens I monitor the brainwaves on a secondary screen. The Neurofeedback will then begin direct the clients’ brain towards a more desirable pattern.

In my approach I may also include additional, sensory awareness activities and brain body connection movements both within the session and suggestions for practicing at home so that the learning can be automated as quickly as possible.

How many sessions will I need and how frequently?

Frequency of sessions: Two to three times a week is the ideal particularly for the first ten sessions

Length of sessions: 45 minutes

Expected number of sessions: It is advisable to commit to 20 sessions to ensure lasting change. After this deeper work can be undertaken for trauma, severe anxiety or ADHD, this may require additional sessions.

Frequency, length and expected number of sessions will be established at the assessment session.
